Job summary

LaBella Associates is seeking a Winter Survey Intern to join our Survey Team in Rock Hill, SC. You will work with experienced staff on boundary and topographic surveys, construction staking, and related projects, gaining hands-on experience with field data, mapping, and office workflows.

The role offers exposure to survey equipment (GNSS, robotic total stations, levels, scanners) and software (Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related program.
• Interest in land surveying and willingness to learn field and office workflows; prior survey experience is helpful but not required.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work well on a team.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist survey crew chief in the completion of survey field assignments.
• Assist the survey crew chief with field assignments, including measurements, notes, sketches, and site documentation.
• Follow LaBella’s safety procedures and work safely in winter field conditions.
• Learn to use survey equipment such as GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, levels, scanners, and data collectors, as project needs allow.
• Assist with field setup, locating features, and carrying equipment across varied terrain.
• Help process survey data and prepare maps or other work products using Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or other software under staff supervision.
