Job summary

The City of Madison is seeking Winter Attendants to support city parks facilities by delivering customer service, handling cash, operating a POS, stocking concessions, and keeping areas clean. Work is performed in heated indoor spaces with variable hours up to 30 per week, including evenings and weekends.

Applicants must be at least 15 years old by January 31, 2027; those 18+ with a valid driver’s license may operate City vehicles.

Job description

The Parks Division is looking to fill multiple Winter Attendant positions. The successful candidate for the position will use independent judgement to apply established policies and procedures to perform a variety of tasks. Including, but not limited to customer service, handling cash, operating a cash register, using a point-of-sale system (POS), cleaning rented equipment, keeping the facility clean, and opening and closing the facility. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Services Coordinator, Aquatic and Parks Program Coordinator, and the Event Services Assistant.

HOURS: Approximately 0-30 hours per week, including weekdays, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Hours are intermittent and will vary based on the weather, outdoor conditions, availability, and how busy each location is.

Hours of operation:

Wednesday – Friday: 4:00pm – 8:00pm

Saturday: 12:00pm – 8:00pm

Sunday: 12:00pm – 6:00pm

Winter Attendants who are at least 18 years of age and who possess a valid driver's license may operate City vehicles as part of their job duties. Attendants who are under age 18 or who do not possess a valid driver's license are prohibited from operating City vehicles. Vehicle operation is not a mandatory duty of the Attendant classification.

Physical Requirements: Employees may be expected to stand for long periods of time.
