Job summary

Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, offers a winter 2027 internship in Costa Mesa, CA. You will design warheads, create prototypes, and manage end-to-end testing of munitions products, gaining hands-on experience in a cutting-edge program.

This internship requires pursuing a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree, returning to school after the program, and U.S. person status for access to controlled information. 16–24 weeks on-site in our offices.

Qualifications

  • Returning to school after internship to continue studies for at least one quarter/semester.
  • U.S. Person due to access to export-controlled information; clearance may be required.
  • Ability to complete a 16–24 week in-person internship in an office in winter 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Design warheads and complex ordnance systems and transition them from prototype to production.
  • Create high fidelity prototype parts to assess effectiveness by testing on the range.
  • Manage testing of munitions products end-to-end, including planning and safety.
  • Capture test video, compile data from ground and flight tests, and analyze results.
  • Assemble/disassemble explosive test articles and precision targets.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design warheads and complex ordnance/munitions systems and transition them from prototype to production.
  • Quickly create high fidelity prototype parts to assess effectiveness by testing on the range.
  • Manage arena and system testing of munitions products from end-to-end, including project planning, design of experiments, and safety.
  • Capture test video, compile data from ground and flight tests, and analyze results.
  • Assemble/disassemble explosive test articles and precision targets.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities; U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on program.
  • Ability to complete an in-person 16 to 24-week internship in one of our offices in winter 2027.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience creating complex mechanical designs using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or NX.
  • Test experience including data acquisition, data analysis, and project coordination.
  • Experience preparing engineering documentation (i.e. specifications, test procedures, technical reports, drawings, etc.).
  • Experience with munitions testing.
  • Prior experience in explosive operations and/or handling munitions

US Hourly Range

$34 - $50 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
