Job Summary

Job Title: Wine and Spirits Clerk/Cashier

Reports To: Wine and Spirits Department Manager

This role involves assisting the Wine and Spirits department by collaborating with all associates to ensure compliance with company policies, achievement of department goals, and meeting associates' needs. Associates in this department can personalize guest experiences by providing expertise on wine and spirits products for various occasions, guiding guests to suitable selections.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet all department standards in the Wine and Spirits section.
  • Monitor sales floor and back stock conditions; take corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and ensure accurate pricing.
  • Collaborate with vendors, the department manager, and associates to uphold standards and exceed guest expectations.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist guests in locating items and handling special requests.
  • Answer phone calls professionally and assist callers.
  • Resolve guest concerns and issues with service or products.
  • Process transactions at the cash register.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department.
  • Ensure quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, providing notice for absences.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years old to sample products.
  • Ability to interact tactfully and effectively with customers.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Understanding of safety requirements and policies.
  • Ability to recognize and react to safety hazards; trained in equipment and procedures such as hand jack, baler, forklift, pallet jack, and proper lifting techniques.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures.

WORK SCHEDULE

Schedules may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on availability.
