Looking for Subject Matter Experts to provide support for all Windows-related issues, primarily researching endpoint analytics and investigating items that impact Windows performance and end user experience.

Helpful to have prior SME experience at Microsoft.

Ability to evaluate endpoint analytical data and Windows event/log data to identify areas of concern with workstation performance or issues driving incidents.

Investigate and identify root cause and remediation for identified Windows-related issues, including but not limited to: Operating system issues, Software installation and configuration, Network connectivity issues and Conflicting third-party applications

Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement.

Work with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.

Required Skills:

In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems, including their features, architecture, and functionalities

Ability to install and configure Windows operating systems on multiple platforms, including laptops, desktops, and servers

Understanding of Windows updates, service packs, and patches, and experience with their installation and troubleshooting

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues related to Windows 10/11

Knowledge of network protocols and security protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN

Knowledge of Active Directory services, Group Policy, and domain configuration

Experience with PowerShell scripting and command-line interfaces to automate tasks and streamline processes

Knowledge of WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation)

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to design, plan, and implement solutions to complex issues

Strong communication skills, ability to work well in a team environment, and capability to work independently

Proficiency with performance monitoring and profiling tools such as: Microsoft Windows Performance Toolkit, ProcDump / ProcMon, PerfMon, Fiddler, Sysinternals, WinDBG, Wireshark

Recommended Additional Skills:

In-depth knowledge of computer architecture, hardware components, firmware, BIOS, and device drivers

Understanding of Operating System principles including: Memory management, Process management, Threading, CPU scheduling, Security

Ability to benchmark computer equipment and compare results to industry standards for optimization

Proficiency in scripting languages such as: Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar automation tools

Deep understanding of Networking and Web-related protocols: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, OSI model, HTTP, HTTPS

Basic knowledge of cloud-based infrastructures (e.g., Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across domains (software, hardware, firmware, network)

Understanding of application behavior on OS internals, including: File systems, Registry, Network stacks, System memory

Knowledge of security concepts, OS hardening, and performance optimization

Familiarity with encryption implementation, e.g., SecureDoc or BitLocker

Understanding of compatibility and performance impact of external docks and input devices

Experience with Tanium / Endpoint Analytics tools for identifying performance issues

Basic knowledge of virtualization technologies such as: Hyper-V, VMware

Experience/ Education:

A minimum of thirteen (13) to twenty (20) years’ relevant experience.

A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred.

Four additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree is required.
