Job summary

Diverse Lynx, LLC is seeking a seasoned Windows and Linux Systems Administrator to manage and optimize complex server environments in San Jose, CA. The role emphasizes security, patching, automation, and proactive incident response.

You will lead the administration of Windows Server farms, Hyper-V clusters, and Linux servers, while leveraging SCVMM, WSUS, Azure Arc, and CrowdStrike Defender to maintain robust, compliant infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019/2022).
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, patching and security hardening.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware) and SCVMM/WSUS/Azure Arc.
• Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
• Familiarity with monitoring, incident response and CMDB/runbooks.

Responsibilities

• Lead administration and support of Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019/2022).
• Administer Hyper-V hosts and failover clusters, SCVMM and host-level storage/network integration.
• Provision and decommission virtual machines; manage checkpoints, live migration and host patching.
• Resolve host and VM availability/performance incidents; participate in RCA.
• Execute approved upgrades and changes; maintain runbooks and CMDB.
• Administer Linux servers (RHEL, SUSE, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu): install, configure, harden.
• Handle Linux tickets and requests; follow security SLAs and patching schedules.
• Automate routine ops with Bash/Python/Ansible; support SRE toil reduction.
• Contribute to RCA, change planning and capacity reviews; maintain runbooks/CMDB.

Job Description/ Responsibilities

• Lead administration and support of Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019/2022).
• Administer Hyper-V hosts and failover clusters, SCVMM and host-level storage/network integration
• Provision and decommission virtual machines; manage checkpoints, live migration and host patching
• Resolve host and VM availability/performance incidents; take part in RCA

• Resolve L2/L3 incidents (~138 Linux tickets/month baseline) and requests within SLR
• Execute OS patching and kernel upgrades within security SLAs; report compliance
• Manage LVM, file systems, NFS, user/sudo management, cron and system services
• Automate routine operations with Bash/Python/Ansible; contribute to SRE toil reduction
