Job summary

RTX in Plano, TX seeks a Senior System Administrator to maintain secure Windows and Linux environments across classified programs. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define computing requirements and deliver end‑to‑end IT infrastructure solutions.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in IT with Windows/Linux, Active Directory, VMware, and container tech (Kubernetes/OpenShift). DoD clearance is required; certification within 6 months is expected. Onsite role with travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience with 2+ years of relevant IT experience.
  • Active and transferrable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Experience with Windows and/or Linux administration including AD, DNS, DHCP, and server replication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Configure and manage DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity to maintain security requirements and document procedures.
  • Develop solutions and documentation for a variety of technical problems; occasional extended hours and 5% travel.
  • Must obtain DoD 8140/8570 certification within 6 months of start date.

Senior System Administrators, based in Plano, Texas, will collaborate with many teams to support exciting, critical programs with classified information system capabilities.

Success in this role means you can develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex IT infrastructure problems.

What you Will Do:

Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. Experience with Windows Server internals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods. Work as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Using troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems at a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS). Experience with data RAID, data backup uses and technologies. Install and configure software applications requested by end users. Working with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures and related tasks as assigned. Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date. Must be able to develop solutions and documentation to deal with a variety of technical problems. Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours. Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires a University degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field. Active and transferrable final U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain program access after start. US citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.”. Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.
  • Experience with Windows Server.
  • Experience with Containerization Technologies such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Tanzu, and Rancher.
  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions.
  • Experience with using Information Technology project lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SMECP, and/or Exchange.
  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment.
  • Scripting Experience.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
