Job summary

Allegiant recruitment is seeking a senior IT leader to work with Stations Support, the NOC, Software Development, DevOps, Linux Engineering, QA, Info Assurance, Info Security, DBA, Network Engineering and PM teams to sustain and improve enterprise IT processes.

This role requires governance experience, on‑call availability, and strong virtualization/storage know‑how in a large, fast‑paced environment. Visa sponsorship not offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum five years in an IT management position.
  • Minimum seven years in Windows, VMware, Cisco UCS, and SAN systems design in large enterprises.

Responsibilities

  • Daily management of IT personnel, PTO requests, performance reviews, and team cohesion.
  • Proper management of departmental resources to support internal and business projects.
  • Maintain open communication with upper management on project status and system issues.
  • Ensure operational uptime of corporate and production systems.
  • Oversee compute hardware and virtual resources for DEV/DevOps/DBA/Linux/Coporate teams.
  • Stay current with technology and evaluate new technologies for Allegiant.
  • Manage budgeting with department head and vendors within approved budgets.
  • Manage third‑party vendor relationships and ensure terms are met.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Job description

Summary

This leadership position works closely with Stations Support, the NOC, Software Development, DevOps, Linux Engineering, Quality Assurance, Information Assurance, Information Security, Database Administration, Network Engineering, and Project Management teams to maintain and enhance our existing processes. Candidates should have prior experience in a large, fast‑paced, enterprise environment working with multi‑disciplinary teams. Visa Sponsorship Available: No.

Minimum Requirements

Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Technology) or equivalent work experience.

Years of Experience: Minimum of five (5) years in an IT management position. Minimum of seven (7) years in Windows, VMware, Cisco UCS, and SAN systems design and implementation in large enterprise environments.

  • Extensive knowledge of systems engineering concepts.
  • Extensive experience deploying and maintaining virtual infrastructure running VMware ESXi 5.x/6.x on Cisco UCS hardware.
  • Technical knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies (vCenter, vSphere, ESXi, DRS, vMotion, HA, FT, SRM, vROPs, vShield).
  • Experience with vCloud Suite and vRealize Operations Manager.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Failover Cluster Services, MS SQL, SharePoint, etc.
  • Experience with NetBackup and various enterprise backup strategies.
  • In‑depth knowledge of network protocols such as IP, ARP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, FTP, NTP, SNMP.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively and lead in a tight‑knit team environment.
  • Able to maintain meticulous documentation and procedures.
Job Duties
  • Daily management of IT personnel, team member PTO requests, performance reviews, and fostering team work & cohesion.
  • Proper management of departmental resources to facilitate internal and business project needs.
  • Keeps an open line of communication to report daily and/or weekly to upper management on the status of the team’s projects/tasks and any system break/fix issues.
  • Operational and Production Support – Ensure operational uptime of corporate and production systems essential to Allegiant and its customers.
  • Production and SDLC Compute Hardware & Virtual Abstraction Management – Architecture, oversight, responsibility, and capacity planning of all physical and virtual compute resources relied upon by DEV, DevOps, DBA, Linux Systems, and Corporate users.
  • New Technology – Stay current with technology and research new technologies that might benefit Allegiant in the near future.
  • Budget management – Close interaction with the department head and third‑party vendors to prepare the annual budget schedule and ensure all purchases are within approved numbers.
  • Managing third‑party relations – Maintain a positive relationship with contracted and non‑contract vendors, ensuring proper execution of agreed terms and conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24‑hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area and to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
