Job summary

Peraton is seeking an experienced Windows and VMware Server Administrator to provide operational support for the customer enterprise environment, focusing on Windows servers, VMware, MECM, and automation.

The role requires 5 years with a degree or 9 years with HS, and the ability to obtain agency clearance. Daily duties include provisioning, maintenance, documentation, and collaboration with customers and service providers. Position follows 8-5 ET with 24/7 on-call participation.

Qualifications

• 5 years with BS/BA or 9 years with a HS Diploma.
• 5 years of hands-on experience with compute infrastructure including virtual (VMware) and cloud compute environments.
• Experience providing operational support for virtualized and on-premise environments using MECM and VMware vSphere.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server Operating Systems.
• Demonstrated experience using VMware vSphere, Windows OS, and VMware vRealize Suite.
• Strong cross-functional troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills; collaboration with customers and service providers.
• 5 years of PowerShell scripting experience, including automation in Windows and VMware environments.
• Experience using ServiceNow or other ticketing systems.
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain/maintain agency clearance.

Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for an experienced Windows and VMware Server Administrator to provide operational support for the customer enterprise environment.

This role provides daily operational and project support for the customer Windows server and VMware environment.

What you will do:

• Will maintain virtualization infrastructure including provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, automation
• Maintenance of systems, hardware, software, and related infrastructure
• Create and maintain technical documentation for supported systems.
• Maintain stability of environment by performing regularly scheduled maintenance (hardware/software) patching and upgrades.
• Responsible for compliance of all assigned hardware, equipment, and configurations.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to existing technologies and new technologies relevant to meeting the strategic and tactical plans of the organization.

Position is 8-5 ET and requires participating in a 24/7 on-call schedule.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 5 years with BS/BA or 9 years with a HS Diploma
• 5 years of hands-on experience with complete compute infrastructure supporting physical, virtual (VMware), and cloud (public, hybrid) compute environments, with equivalent
• Experience providing operational support for virtualized and on-premise environments using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and VMware vSphere.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server Operating Systems.
• Demonstrated experience using VMware vSphere, Windows OS, and VMware vRealize Suite.
• Strong cross-functional troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills; role requires professional collaboration with customers and other service providers.
• 5 years of hands-on PowerShell scripting experience, including automation of administrative tasks, infrastructure provisioning, and systems management in Windows and VMware environments.
• Experience using ServiceNow or other ticketing systems.
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Work experience with storage, network technologies, connectivity, protocols, and security.
• Experience in a federal or regulated industry environment, with familiarity with FISMA, NIST 800-53, STIGs or FedRAMP compliance frameworks.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., vRealize Operations, SolarWinds, Splunk).
• Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), AWS/Azure Administrator, or CompTIA Security+.
• Mature professional, highly motivated, self-starter with clear verbal and written communication skills.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
