Job summary

GF Sprague & Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Window Installer/Carpenter to deliver high‑quality window and door installations with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.

You will perform field installations, siding, trim work, and repairs while following safety standards and manufacturer specifications. This role reports to the Operations Manager in Westwood, MA, and offers a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in exterior carpentry or related construction work.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • OSHA certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Measure openings accurately to ensure proper fit for windows and doors.
  • Assess structural integrity and alignment of installation sites.
  • Remove existing windows, doors, frames, or hardware with minimal damage to surroundings.
  • Install new windows or doors, securing them with proper alignment and fastening.
  • Complete exterior carpentry work including siding, window, and trim installation.
  • Apply caulk, weatherstripping, or foam to seal units and prevent air/water leaks.
  • Test windows and doors for smooth operation and adjust as needed.
  • Maintain a tidy worksite and communicate with clients as needed.

Job description

As the team’s Window Installer/Carpenter, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality window and door installations while ensuring exceptional craftsmanship, customer satisfaction, and jobsite safety. You will work directly in the field performing installations, repairs, and a variety of exterior carpentry tasks, including siding, window, trim, and repair work, while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.

As an essential part of the team and reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will work to deliver exceptional craftsmanship and ensure every installation is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards, manufacturer specifications, and customer expectations. Your work will play a critical role in protecting homeowners’ investments while delivering outstanding customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure openings accurately to ensure proper fit for windows and doors.
  • Assess structural integrity and alignment of installation sites.
  • Remove existing windows, doors, frames, or hardware with minimal damage to surroundings.
  • Clean, level, and prepare openings for installation, including insulation and weatherproofing.
  • Install new windows or doors, securing them with proper alignment and fastening.
  • Complete exterior carpentry work, including siding, window, and trim installation
  • Perform repairs and modifications to existing exterior systems
  • Apply caulk, weatherstripping, or foam to seal units and prevent air/water leaks.
  • Test windows and doors for smooth operation (e.g., opening, closing, locking).
  • Adjust installed units to ensure proper functionality and fit.
  • Use tools like drills, saws, levels, and caulking guns proficiently.
  • Adhere to building codes, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Clean up debris and dispose of old materials, maintaining a tidy worksite.
  • When required, communicate with clients to explain processes, address concerns, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Respond and follow through on emails and correspondence from other team members.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Maintains regular communication with the Operations Manager, General Manager, staff and field personnel, working cooperatively to develop methods and systems that are most effective for growing the business.
  • Maintains company reputation of integrity and professionalism by communicating with customers in a professional manner.
  • Communicates with all employees in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Maintain a willingness to reinvest in yourself with continuing education and professional development initiatives (i.e. Lead Certification, OSHA Certification, etc.) as recommended by the Company.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license (limited minor infractions only)
  • Proven experience in exterior carpentry or related construction work
  • OSHA certifications preferred but not required
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and work at heights
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Starting pay range: $35-40/hour
