Job summary

ABB is seeking a Weekend Shift Multi-Skilled Winding Operator to support the Winding Department in meeting production targets. You will cross-train in at least three additional winding operations and operate primary equipment safely in a fast-paced environment.

The role entails a Friday-Sunday schedule, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a three-day weekend and full-time hours. You will work onsite and be accountable for quality, safety, and lean manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required, with at least 1 year of manufacturing experience, equivalent military service, or technical/vocational training.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read work instructions, technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and perform precision assembly tasks.
  • Ability to work weekend shift operations (Friday-Sunday), stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.

This position reports to:

Production Supervisor

Your role and responsibilities

The Weekend Shift Multi-Skilled Winding Operator is responsible for supporting the Winding Department in achieving production targets by performing assigned primary operations and developing mastery across multiple functional roles. The operator will be assigned a primary role upon hire and is required to cross-train and achieve operational mastery in a minimum of three (3) additional winding operations. This position adheres to standard work instructions, critical process parameters, quality requirements, and safety protocols across all assigned functions.

Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)

Three-day weekend schedule with full-time hours

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Multi-Skilled Production Role: Operators are assigned a primary manufacturing function (Winding, Welding/Insulation, Connection, Brazing, Lacing/Testing, or Setup/Blocking) and receive cross-training in at least three additional roles to build a versatile skill set.
  • Hands-On Manufacturing & Equipment Operation: Safely set up, operate, and monitor specialized production equipment while meeting quality, productivity, and customer requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement Focus: Inspect products throughout the manufacturing process, maintain production records, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support lean manufacturing initiatives to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Safety-Driven Team Environment: Work closely with production, quality, and supervisory teams while following all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and material handling practices to ensure a safe and productive workplace.
Qualifications for the role
  • High school diploma or GED required, with at least 1 year of manufacturing experience, equivalent military service, or technical/vocational training.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read work instructions, technical diagrams, wiring schematics, and perform precision assembly tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality focus, and troubleshooting skills, with experience in welding, wiring, brazing, or motor manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while supporting a fast-paced manufacturing environment and weekend shift operations (Friday-Sunday).
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs., operate machinery, and work safely in an industrial environment while wearing required PPE.
