Location: Greenville, WI
Position: Winder Operator
Shift: Straight Shift 10 hrs – 3:00 pm to 1:00 am (Monday–Thursday) with some Fridays
Wage: $24.17 + $1.00 shift differential

Responsibilities
- Review the job order to determine the appropriate equipment and materials. Determine proper mandrel size, belt to be used with the mandrel and paper width requirements, and proper paper size and width.
- Set up and operate the winding machine using the appropriate equipment and materials. Adjust the angles of the paper on the dry stand and on the glue rack. Ensure proper spacing of ribbons to create tubes. Prepare glue pots and use the proper adhesive so all plies have the proper amount of adhesive and tubes are glued properly.
- Adjust tension on winding belt and paper as required. Splice additional paper as needed to maintain a smooth production flow. Verify the outer diameter and core thickness specifications hourly and document the measurements.
- Set up and operate the tube saw by inserting the proper saw blades and adjusting for the proper diameter and length to achieve an even cut.
- Monitor critical areas during operation to ensure a quality product, including safety, inside and outside dimensions, tube length, gap, adhesion, and ply spacing.
- Collaborate with other production team members on the line (Line Support, Line Lead, and Production Associate) and serve as direct back-up to the Line Lead.
- Perform required maintenance of equipment, including lubrication and oiling of the winder and saw.
- Keep machines and the work area clean daily and return equipment and unused materials to proper storage locations.
- Work safely with others and instruct helpers in the proper use of the machine, using all safety guards as intended.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED. One to three months related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete production reports.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) in all units of measure.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and to handle problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
