Job summary

Nidec Corporation seeks a skilled winder to rewind electro‑mechanical equipment, ensuring high-quality repairs and adherence to safety standards. You will inspect, dismantle, and rewind windings, document technical data, and operate specialized equipment such as winding machines and test panels.

The role requires ability to read instructions, troubleshoot, and work with a team, with flexibility to cover evenings/weekends if needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect electro‑mechanical equipment for damage and malfunctions.
• Test windings per industry standards and customer specs.
• Document data on unit magnets, operating conditions, and serviceability.
• Dismantle damaged equipment and prepare reusable parts for rewinding.
• Rewind windings including three‑phase, DC fields, armatures, and transformers.
• Observe safe insulating techniques during rewinding and testing.
• Operate winding machines, test panels, surge/test equipment, and related tools.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Adhere to ISO procedures where required and follow supervisor directions.

Job description

Position Objective

The primary responsibility of a winder is to rewind various kinds of electro‑mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect various kinds of electro‑mechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions.
• Test condition of windings according to industry standards / customer specifications.
• Illustrate and/or document all relevant data specific to unit’s electro‑magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability.
• Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electro‑mechanical equipment.
• Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusable conditions.
• Rewind various kinds of electro‑mechanical equipment, including but not limited to: three‑phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotor and transformers.
• Observe proper insulating techniques and/or requirements during rewinding.
• Test rewound electro‑mechanical equipment according to industry standards/customer specifications.
• Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
• Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core‑loss testers, cut‑off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, VPI systems, and various handheld power and non‑power tools.
• Comply with all company policies / procedures and perform all job functions in an ethical manner.
• Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear for all tasks.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area free of hazards as directed by supervisor.
• Complete all required safety training.
• Perform all applicable duties in accordance with ISO procedures, if required.
• Perform other skilled or non‑skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

Experience & Skills

• Ability to successfully complete all required training, in‑house/offsite.
• Must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends, if required.
• Possess valid identification.
• Be able to operate motor vehicles in compliance with all state and federal requirements, if travel required.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification required.
• Quick troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Basic/experienced mechanic knowledge.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to read, write and follow work instructions.
• Ability to interface with co‑workers and customers.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines.

Education

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
