Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Wind Technician to service turbines across Texas Hub 6, including high towers and demanding environments. You will diagnose electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, perform repairs, and document activity via service reports.

The ideal candidate has wind energy certification or a technical degree, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lift 45 lbs and climb tall towers. A valid driver’s license and willingness to work rotating shifts are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic, OR 2 years of related hydraulic and electrical experience with basic tools and a tech assessment
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs repeatedly
• Ability to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
• Meet manufacturer weight limits up to 300 lbs including gear
• Understand electrical schematics, manuals, procedures and regs
• Able to work in industrial facilities and on rotating shifts with on-call duties
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (desired)
• Wind Energy certification or related field (desired)
• Wind turbine experience (desired)
• Electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic experience (desired)
• Experience with hydraulic power tools (desired)
• Experience with heavy equipment and crane/rigging (desired)

Responsibilities

• Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and daily site activities
• Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions in wind turbine equipment
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
• Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
• Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
• Document all work using computer-based service reporting procedures
• Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
• Work at all wind sites within Texas Hub 6 and report to any assigned site
