Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembly Technician to assemble wind turbine components at our West Branch facility in Iowa. The role requires reading blueprints, using torque, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, and operating overhead cranes to assemble gearboxes, bearings, and shafts.

Candidates must have 3+ years in heavy manufacturing, a high school diploma or GED, and be able to pass respiratory fit tests and crane certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of mechanical assembly or heavy manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read work instructions and blueprints.
• Experience with wind turbine, automotive, or industrial equipment assembly.
• Pass respiratory fit test and crane certification required.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Assemble wind turbine mechanical components using hand and power tools and cranes.
• Follow work instructions and engineering drawings for accurate builds.
• Perform torquing, alignment, and fit-up of large components (gearboxes, bearings, shafts).
• Conduct safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Collaborate with QA and Engineering to improve assembly processes.
• Support other production areas as needed; participate in audits and CI initiatives.
• Assist electrical assembly operators as required.
