Job summary

Invenergy LLC in Big Spring, TX seeks a Wind Technician to operate and maintain the Gunsight Mountain Wind Energy Center. You will perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbines and related equipment, and climb turbine towers daily with safety gear.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of technical experience. You must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift up to 45 kg.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of technical experience or relevant education.
• Able to work outdoors in inclement weather and climb ladders.
• Able to work at heights above 80 meters (250 feet).
• Valid driver's license and US work eligibility needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbine and equipment.
• Climb wind turbine towers daily with safety gear to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
• Understand electrical and mechanical functions of turbine components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults; repair or replace components.
• Maintain tooling, facilities and a clean, safe work environment.
• Work a 40 hour week with overtime during peak maintenance periods.

About the Site

The Gunsight Mountain Wind Energy Center is a 120 MW wind power generation facility located in Big Spring, TX utilizing GE 1.7-100 WTG's turbine technology.

Position Overview

As a Wind Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Gunsight Mountain Wind Energy Center.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mechanical and electrical maintenance on GE wind turbine and associated equipment
• Climb wind turbine towers daily, wearing all required safety equipment, to inspect, maintain, or repair equipment.
• Understand electrical and mechanical functions of all components of a wind turbine generator and associated equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults; repair and/or replace components
• Maintain company tooling, facilities and equipment and a clean safe work environment
• Work a 40 hour work week and be subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime. The work schedule will vary during the peak maintenance periods

Required Skills

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• One (1) year technical experience (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and/or technical education.
• Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 80 meters (250 feet).
• Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 pounds).
• Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 lbs.) excluding equipment/gear worn when performing job related tasks.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Base Pay

$29.49 - 49.97 USD Hourly
