Job summary

Jobtailor is recruiting for a wind technician role in Abilene, TX. The candidate will maintain and troubleshoot wind turbine electrical and mechanical systems, interpret schematics, and work with heavy equipment on rotating shifts.

The ideal candidate has wind turbine experience, hydraulic tool proficiency, and a valid driver’s license, with readiness for on-call duties and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Wind turbine experience or related hydraulic/electrical background with basic power tools is required.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Valid driver's license and drug screen clearance.
• Able to lift up to 45 lbs and climb towers 300+ feet regularly.
• Willingness to work in industrial facilities and rotate shifts/on-call.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and mechanical systems on wind turbine generators.
• Interpret and follow electrical schematics, manuals, and procedures.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment, cranes and rigging as needed.
• Support site operations while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic OR minimum of 2 years of work experience inclusive of hydraulic and electrical experience and use of basic power hydraulic tools
• Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
• Basic computer skills
• Valid driver's license that must be maintained
• Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs unassisted
• Ability and willingness to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
• Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits, not exceeding 300 lbs including required gear
• Ability to understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations
• Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
• Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
• Ability to work with personnel at all levels inside and outside the wind farm
• Wind turbine experience
• Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
• Experience using hydraulic power tools
• Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
