- Operate and maintain wind turbine power generation equipment safely and in compliance with environmental and safety standards
- Maintain operational efficiency, unit reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements
- Maintain and complete tactical processes in a team-oriented, multi-discipline environment
- Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize wind turbine generation equipment
- Perform general and preventive maintenance on generators, pitch systems, yaw systems, cooling systems, and support systems
- Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance
- Troubleshoot and correct mechanical issues with gearboxes, pumps, and rotating equipment
- Perform rotating machinery alignment
- Complete additional tasks requested by the Lead Technician or Facilities Manager
- Provide coverage across varying day-shift schedules, including up to six days per week
- Respond to callouts and work overtime as needed
- Enforce and follow safety policies
- Inspect safety equipment, vehicles, personal protective equipment, and plant equipment
- Track time accurately and maintain punctuality
Requirements
- Applicants must live in the area or be willing to relocate
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license required
- Must speak English
- Must meet weight requirements for safety and wind turbine equipment
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to work in mechanically and electrically oriented situations
- Previous equivalent related experience and/or an appropriate Company-determined skill level
- Successful completion of Company-required training, education courses, and/or skill-level testing
- Knowledge of basic electrical testing equipment, commonly used bolts, and torque values
- Ability to troubleshoot complicated mechanical and electrical problems on variable-pitch, variable-speed turbines
- Ability to understand and read electrical drawings and read, write, and comprehend technical information
- Good digital literacy, including Microsoft Office and other computer-based efficiency tools
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Good decision-making, planning, interpersonal, multitasking, prioritization, and networking skills
- Ability to continuously learn and adapt to change
- Ability to work under pressure and remain focused and calm amid distractions
- High safety and environmental awareness
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and occasional travel outside the service area
- Ability to climb a 300-foot tower ladder daily and work at elevated spaces
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
- Ability to operate power tools, including grease guns, impact guns, and rotating saws
- Ability to operate hand tools, including wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers
- Experience with GE 1.5, Vestas V-80, and/or Siemens 2.3 turbines is a plus
Demonstrates expertise in operating and maintaining wind turbine power generation equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Proficient in troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing mechanical and electrical systems in a team-oriented environment.
