The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota offers a competitive veterinary internship for students, providing intense hands-on experience in animal care and rehabilitation. Interns will work with a variety of species and assist with medical procedures alongside experienced veterinarians. Prospective candidates must be enrolled in an accredited veterinary program and meet health requirements.
This competitive position is offered to only a few students during each session. Students are expected to have completed their final coursework - this is hands-on externship that is required by degreed programs.
During the session you'll have an opportunity to work with a wide variety of different species, we admit approximately 200 different species every year. Our center is a very high stress, high caseload hospital - we're the busiest wildlife hospital in the world. You'll be working around catastrophic injuries and will witness euthanasia daily.
You'll work alongside our vets and vet techs and learn radiology, hematology and critical care for ICU patients. It is some of the most intense hands-on experience with wildlife you can have.
We have a wide variety of people working and volunteering at the center. You'll be around people from all ethnicities and backgrounds. Acceptance of this is vital to your success in our program.
