Job summary

Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), Game Management Division, seeks a rotorcraft pilot with extensive PIC rotorcraft experience to support wildlife survey and habitat improvement projects. The role requires operating over mountainous terrain, often in low visibility, and maintaining fleet readiness for diverse aircraft including rotorcraft and fixed-wing.

Department-owned Bell 407 HP helicopters support missions; candidates must meet stringent flight-hour benchmarks and stay current on FAA

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3,500 hours Pilot-In-Command rotorcraft or equivalent flight time as designated by agency.
  • Flight experience must include 250 hours low-level flight; 250 hours external load operations; 500 hours mountain flying above 5,000 feet MSL; and 100 hours in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight activities including scheduling routes; monitor weather; calculate load and fuel requirements; conduct routine pilot inspections.
  • Fuel and preheat aircraft; secure aircraft in hangar or after flight; operate jet, piston and turbine aircraft as assigned.
  • Maintain operation and component records; perform airframe and powerplant inspections; conduct servicing and field repairs as needed.
  • Review FAA regulations, aeronautical charts, service bulletins, airworthiness directives; stay current with agency procedures.
  • Participate in training and recertification to maintain ratings for assigned aircraft.
