Job summary

Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) Game Management Division is recruiting a rotorcraft pilot to assist in wildlife survey activities and habitat improvement projects. The role requires extensive PIC rotorcraft hours and the ability to fly in mountainous terrain, often with limited visibility.

The aircraft to be operated include Bell 407 HP helicopters. Pilots must maintain current certifications for agency aircraft, which may include rotorcraft, jets, turboprops, or multi-engine airplanes.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 3,500 hours PIC in rotorcraft or fixed-wing multi- and/or single-engine aircraft are required as designated at recruitment.
  • Flight experience must include 250 hours of low-level flight, 250 hours conducting external load operations, 500 hours mountain flying above 5,000 feet MSL, and 100 hours in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight activities including scheduling routes, monitoring weather, and calculating load and fuel requirements.
  • Maintain airframe and powerplant records for agency aircraft.
  • Inspect aircraft and perform routine repairs and servicing as needed.
  • Remain current on FAA regulations, charts, service bulletins, and agency operating procedures.
