The Nevada Department of Wildlife seeks a Wildlife Educator AmeriCorps Member to join its Conservation Education team serving the Eastern Region (Elko, Nevada). This three-quarter term covers 1200 hours beginning 10/01/2026, with a monthly stipend of $2,066.66 and an education award of $5,176.50 upon successful completion of the term.

The position requires a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, travel, outdoor work, and occasional camping in varying weather conditions.

About the Host SiteThe Nevada Department of Wildlife’s (NDOW) Conservation Education division provideswildlife, hunter, angler, archery, boating, and urban wildlife education programs inclassrooms and communities throughout Nevada. Through these programs, NDOW reaches thousands of participants each year while advancing its mission of connecting people to wildlife in a positive way.The Wildlife Educator for the East Region will be serving in Elko, Nevada, with the Nevada Department of Wildlife. Schedule: Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm; however, hours will vary by season, and there will be many weekends. Term of Service & Time Requirements: Three-quarter term, 1200 hours.Start date: 10/01/2026 - 6/31/27. Monthly stipend $2066.66 and an education award after successful completion of the term of $5,176.50. Mission: "To protect, conserve, manage, and restore wildlife and its habitat for the aesthetic, scientific, educational, recreational, and economic benefits to citizens of Nevada and the United States, and to promote the safety of persons using vessels on the waters of Nevada." The Wildlife Educator engages K-12 students in park-based, citizen science, and conservation projects that encourage higher learning in science and environmental subjects.

Member Duties :

The Wildlife Educator AmeriCorps Member (the member) serves on NDOW’s ConservationEducation team, supporting classroom and community wildlife education programsthroughout the Eastern Region (Elko, Lander, White Pine, and Eureka counties). Themember will help develop and deliver outdoor education events, clinics, and field tripsfocused on wildlife conservation, archery, fishing, hunting, and shooting sports. Additionalduties include assisting with volunteer recruitment and training, supporting volunteerprojects, and providing fieldwork assistance as needed. This position requires a flexibleschedule, including some evenings and weekends, as well as frequent travel, outdoor work,and occasional camping in varying weather conditions.
