Job summary

Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital in Coral Springs, Florida, is seeking an Environmental Education Coordinator. The 30–40 hour per week role includes delivering and expanding environmental education programs, handling animals for outreach, and managing bookings and camp activities.

The coordinator will also write blogs, support social media content, assist with grant writing, fundraising, and day-to-day operations as needed, reporting to the Executive Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Education, or related natural science field.
• Minimum of one year of experience with elementary-aged children.
• Comfortable working with and handling animals (birds, reptiles, mammals).
• Ability to teach and lead programs outdoors in varying weather.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of Canva.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems independently and stay organized with multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver existing environmental education programs and develop new ones for diverse audiences at Sawgrass Nature Center and client sites.
• Safely handle and present animals during programs, presentations, and events.
• Manage marketing, scheduling, bookings, invoicing, and program administration.
• Plan and oversee Camp Wild programs across seasons, including training volunteers.
• Write weekly educational blog content and assist with social media content development.
• Promote Sawgrass programs through outreach, onsite activities, and online channels.
• Support daily operations, grant writing, and customer service; assist other departments as needed.
