Job summary

Laredo College seeks a Wildlife Technician Assistant to support the Wildlife Education Coordinator and LBVEC Director in wildlife care and exhibit development at the Environmental Science Center. You’ll help maintain exhibits, assist with groundskeeping, and support programs for students and community visitors.

The role requires a minimum two-year wildlife handling experience, CPR/AED, a Food Handler certificate, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to work flexible hours and outdoors as

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum two-year wildlife handling experience.
• International Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition Basic Training Certificate.
• CPR/AED certificate (or must obtain within 9 months of hire).
• Food Handler Certificate from the City of Laredo.
• Valid Driver’s License and current car insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist wildlife care and exhibit maintenance as directed by supervisors.
• Maintain indoor/outdoor exhibits, feeds, and care logs.
• Perform groundskeeping and enclosure maintenance.
• Assist with aquatic and land animal husbandry as needed.
• Prepare daily animal care and operation reports.
• Assist with development of new exhibits and educational landscaping.

Education

Associate degree in wildlife management, zoology, biology, or related field
