Job summary

The Nashville Zoo is seeking an Animal Care Special Events Keeper to join the Animal Care Events Team (ACE). This role focuses on caring for animals during evening events and special programs, while supporting other animal care teams to enhance guest experiences.

The ideal candidate has animal care experience, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams across the Zoo to create memorable interactions for visitors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year full-time paid experience with birds, ectotherms, carnivores, primates, hoofstock, domestic species, and/or ambassador animals.
• College degree in Animal Science, Biology, Zoology, etc. preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform husbandry of assigned species and maintain exhibits, yards, night enclosures, and contiguous areas.
• Base knowledge of operant conditioning and positive reinforcement training.
• Assist with training for husbandry behaviors, provide enrichment, and perform other tasks.
• Maintain detailed daily records on assigned animals (ZIMS/Daily Supervisor Report).
• Educate the public through keeper talks, animal encounters, and meet-and-greets; provide a clean, safe environment for families.
• Work with wide variety of animals across departments; ensure professional conduct and uphold Zoo values.
