Job summary

Nashville Zoo seeks an Ambassador Animal Keeper- Encounters to care for the Behavioral Husbandry animal collection and host on-site encounters, tours, and special programs. The role supports education, enrichment, and visitor experiences while working weekends, evenings, and holidays.

You will collaborate with the Encounters team, maintain animal records, prep diets, assist veterinary staff, and participate in enrichment projects and outreach activities at the zoo's facilities and events.

Qualifications

  • Requires ability to work with a variety of animals including arthropods, reptiles, birds, and small mammals.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills are essential.
  • Proven training proficiency and ability to work without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Care for the Behavioral Husbandry animal collection and support ambassador programs.
  • Prepare daily diets and assist with veterinary procedures as directed.
  • Present on-site encounters, tours, and special events with ambassador animals.
  • Complete animal records and enrichment projects; maintain clean habitats and grounds.
