The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Region One seeks a Biological Science Technician (Wildlife) in Hawaii. This term position is expected to last at least 13 months with potential extension and extensive field responsibilities.

You will plan and carry out wildlife surveys, monitor populations, collect data, and assist with field equipment, volunteers, and coordination with local stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plans and carries out wildlife surveys and recommends wildlife management actions.
• Monitors and helps manage wildlife populations, plant disease issues, invasive plants, mowing/seeding work, and vegetation removal.
• Captures wildlife, applies visual and radio tags, and collects physiological and movement data.
• Tracks environmental conditions such as temperature, precipitation, streamflow, snow depth, wind, and humidity.
• Builds databases and analyzes data using standard statistical methods for wildlife reports.
• Uses GIS and other systems to enter and retrieve data.
