Job summary

The State of Hawai'i in Honolulu seeks a qualified candidate to perform complex forestry and natural resources duties. You will support research, development, management and maintenance projects while applying safety practices in field conditions.

Three years of specialized forestry or wildlife experience, plus knowledge of habitats and survey techniques, are required. A valid driver’s license is needed and firearms handling may be required for predator control.

Qualifications

  • Experience requiring reading/comprehension and high verbal skill; ability to apply written directions.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible sub-professional or technical work in forestry or wildlife.
  • Knowledge of game/non-game birds and animals, habitats, survey techniques, and basic carpentry/plumbing/masonry.
  • Ability to follow oral/written instructions; write clear field notes; perform percent/average calculations.
  • Substitutions described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements apply.
  • Firearms handling may be required; must meet Federal/State regulations; no domestic violence conviction.
  • Lift and carry items as needed; valid driver's license at time of appointment.
  • Physical work: backpack 30 pounds for five miles; capable under adverse conditions.

  • Supports research, development, management and maintenance activities; performs related duties as assigned.
