State of Louisiana's Department of Wildlife and Fisheries seeks a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A-C for Pointe-aux-Chenes WMA. The role supports coastal habitat management across multiple WMAs and refuges, performing field work in varied environments and weather, often from boats, with overnight trips as needed.

This position is a Wildlife and Fisheries Technician A-C Career Progression Group position based at Pointe-aux-Chenes Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The incumbent receives direct supervision from a Technician Supervisor. This position is responsible for performing tasks associated with the daily operation of Pointe-aux-Chenes, Lake Boeuf, Salvador, Timken and Pass-a-Loutre WMAs and Queen Bess Refuge. Such tasks may include maintenance of facilities, equipment and grounds, WMA management and enhancements, data collection, public/user assistance, etc. These WMAs and refuge are highly dynamic coastal environments that provide habitat for a large diversity and abundance of resident and migratory wildlife. These areas are located in Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Charles, Jefferson and Plaquemines Parishes and consists of habitats ranging from swamp to brackish habitats. Overnight travel for multiple days at remote areas and throughout Louisiana will be required. Working in the field, out of boats, at night and in inclement weather will also be required.

DOMICILE:This position will be domiciled in Terrebonne parish.
APPOINTMENT TYPE: Job appointment, probational appointment, promotional, or detail to special duty.
If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available. Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.
COMPENSATION:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
