Job summary

Georgia Forestry Commission is seeking a Ranger/Wildland Firefighter to support wildland fire suppression and prevention from the Wilkes County unit in Washington, GA. The role requires outdoor work, teamwork, and adaptability to emergency-response environments.

Minimum qualifications include one year of Ranger 1 level experience or equivalent, Fire Fighter Type 2 certification, and a CDL. May require relocation within 45 minutes of the assigned site.

Qualifications

• Requires one year of experience at Ranger 1 or equivalent.
• Fire Fighter Type 2 certification required.
• GFC Prescribed Burn Manager certification required.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.

Responsibilities

• Must live and/or relocate to within 45 minutes of assigned work location.
• Assists with maintaining buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Operates fire engines and hoselays.
• Responds to fire calls and other emergencies.
• Participates in a rotating on-call schedule to respond after hours and on weekends/holidays.
