State of Georgia seeks a Wildland Firefighter/Ranger to serve in the Wilkes County unit of the Georgia Forestry Commission. The role involves training in fire control duties, operating heavy equipment, and supporting suppression and prevention efforts.

You must be ready to relocate or live within 45 minutes of the assigned location and pass a background and fitness screening. Candidates should have a CDL and certifications such as Fire Fighter Type 2 and Prescribed Burn Manager.

Qualifications

• One year of experience at Ranger 1 level or equivalent.
• Commercial Driver's License required.
• Pre-employment process includes background investigation, medical evaluations, and fitness tests.

Responsabilités

• Receive training in fire control duties using heavy equipment under close supervision.
• Assist with maintaining buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• Operate fire engines and hoselays in suppression and prevention tasks.
• Respond to fire calls and emergencies as part of a rotating on-call schedule.
