The Georgia Forestry Commission is seeking a Wildland Firefighter/Ranger to join a highly trained team in Greene County near White Plains, GA. You will help protect Georgia's forest resources and contribute to fire suppression and prevention efforts.

Applicants must have a Class A CDL learner's permit and the ability to obtain a CDL within 12 weeks, pass mandatory medical and fitness evaluations, and meet physical requirements, including the WCT/PAT.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Class A CDL learner's permit prior to hire date and the ability to obtain a CDL within 12 weeks.
  • Applicants must pass pre-employment processes including background investigation, medical evaluations, and physical fitness tests.
  • Must pass the Moderate Work Capacity Test (WCT) or Physical Agility Test (PAT) every year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining buildings, grounds and equipment.
  • Operates fire engines and hoselays.
  • Carries out the implementation of fire prevention campaigns.
  • Responds to fire calls and other emergencies.
  • Participates in a rotating on-call schedule to respond after hours and on weekends/holidays.
