Georgia Forestry Commission in Elberton, GA invites you to join a dynamic wildland firefighting team protecting Georgia’s forests and citizens. You’ll work outdoors, respond to emergencies, operate firefighting equipment, and help with prevention and reforestation efforts.

Applicants must have a CDL learner's permit (able to obtain CDL within 12 weeks), pass medical and fitness tests, and live within 45 minutes of the work site; on-call rotations apply.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL learner's permit or ability to obtain CDL within 12 weeks.
  • Successful completion of medical evaluations and background checks.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment used in wildland firefighting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform wildland firefighting duties and assist with fire suppression.
  • Operate fire engines and related equipment during responses.
  • Maintain and inspect equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Participate in fire prevention campaigns and public education.
  • Relocate within 45 minutes of assigned work location and be on-call as needed.
