Job summary

The Florida Forest Service, part of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, seeks a Forest Ranger to support forestfire prevention, detection, suppression, and public forestry education. The position requires meeting minimum qualifications and obtaining a firefighter certificate.

Occasional travel and readiness for emergency responses are expected; CDL may be required within six months, and a valid driver license is mandatory for all positions.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience as a Forest Ranger with the Florida Forest Service or similar wildland firefighting forestry organization.
• An associate’s degree in Forest Technology or Fire Science and 1 year relevant experience.
• Florida firefighter certificate of compliance required before permanent status.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment for wildland fire suppression and support.
• Investigate wildfire causes and gather evidence for enforcement.
• Provide presuppression assistance and public forestry education.
