Job summary

The Florida Forest Service, part of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, seeks qualified applicants for forest fire prevention, detection, suppression, and presuppression operations. The position includes operating firefighting equipment, responding to emergencies, and participating in public forestry education.

Incumbents must obtain a Class B CDL within three months, meet health and background standards, and be willing to travel and live within 30 miles of Sebring

Qualifications

• Be in good physical condition as prescribed; medical exam required.
• Be a non-user of tobacco for at least one year preceding application.
• Have a valid driver license.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and vehicles.
• Respond to wildfires, conduct inspections, and support suppression and presuppression activities.
• Provide public forestry education and assist in state lands management.
