Wildland Fire Captain - Insurance Division

IMMEDIATE HIRING! WILDLAND FIRE CAPTAIN

Starting pay: $29.00 per hour

We are hiring Wildland Fire Captains to supervise and oversee Firefighters and Fire Engineers in an assigned Fire Company. The Fire Captain manages activities including fire suppression, emergency medical incidents, hazardous materials spills, and other emergency calls. The role involves supervising a fire crew to ensure safety and providing assistance to the Battalion Chief. In the absence of the Battalion Chief, the Fire Captain reports directly to the Fire Chief.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Managing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a fire station, apparatus, and personnel.
  2. Supervising fire and rescue crews and the apparatus dispatched to emergency scenes, including fires, medical calls, and hazardous materials incidents.
  3. Serving as incident commander at emergency incidents.
Customer Service duties include:
  1. Conducting fire safety, home safety, extinguisher, and pre-fire planning inspections.
  2. Providing public information, installing smoke detectors, conducting station tours, visiting schools, and participating in public education events.
  3. Supervising firefighting staff and ensuring the safe operation of company apparatus.
  4. Delegating duties and responsibilities to subordinates.
  5. Performing performance evaluations and developing action plans for crew members.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials-Operations certification from IFSAC or ProBoard.
  3. Five years of full-time Firefighter service with Rural / Metro Fire Department.
  4. State or National Registered EMT-P or EMT-B certification, with current ACLS if EMT-P, and CPR/AED certification.
  5. Valid driver license with a good record (DUI within last 5 years disqualifies).
  6. Ability to work 24-hour shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends, and to work overtime as needed.
