Job summary

The State of Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) invites applications for the Spillman Unit Suppression, Wildland Fire Management Supervisor (WFMSup)/Wildland Fire Management Lead (WFML) In-Training. This full-time, permanent position located in Belfair, WA, teams with a unit manager to lead fire suppression, prevention, and training initiatives across the South Puget Sound Region.

Responsibilities include hazard risk assessments, structure protection planning, and coordinating

Qualifications

• NWCG Firefighter Type 1 certification or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in wildland fire management or related field.
• Experience supervising or leading wildland firefighting personnel.

Responsibilities

• Lead community wildfire prevention, preparedness and hazard assessment activities.
• Oversee fire suppression efforts to protect lives and resources.
• Assist in supervising multiple wildland engine crews and personnel.
• Support fire training for regional staff and partner agencies.
• Review burn permits and ensure compliance with regulations.
