Job summary

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in Washington State is hiring for the Cle Elum-Hand Crew Squad Boss, Wildland Fire Management Lead (WFML). This full-time, permanent, represented position is based in the Southeast Region-Cle Elum, WA, with some work-hour flexibility and relocation consideration.

Salary ranges from $3,827 to $5,111 monthly. The role leads a 20-person initial attack handcrew, oversees wildland firefighting operations, training, and preparedness, and requires NWCG

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wildland fire suppression tactics.
• Certified as a National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Firefighter Type 1.
• Strong leadership and supervision capabilities.
• Ability to coordinate interagency resources and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct Fireline supervision of the hand crew on initial attack, extended attack, mop-up, and rehabilitation.
• Lead crew in prescribed fire support, fuels management, and community resilience activities.
• Plan and deliver trainings for seasonal staff and interagency cooperators.
• Assist in developing and executing annual preparedness and incident response plans.
• Perform duties as assigned such as supervisor or incident command roles when qualified.
