Job summary

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CCCFPD) seeks Fire Control Worker Specialists to engage in wild land firefighting, weather related incidents, vegetation management, fire prevention, public education, and community services. Multiple positions are available within a large All-Risk fire agency.

Applicants must be self starters, physically fit, organized, and able to work under stress. Recruitment emphasizes hands-on outdoor work and opportunities for professional growth within CCCFPD.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid California Driver's License at time of appointment.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Six months of full-time (or its equivalent) experience as a Fire Control Worker, member of a fire Hand Crew, or a seasonal Wildland Firefighter.
• Completion of NWCG/CA State Fire Marshal trainings: S-212 (Wildland Fire Chainsaws), S-230 (Crew Boss), S-290 (Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior).
• Prior to completion of probation, obtain NWCG/CA State Fire Marshal S-219 (Fire Operations) training, CDL with Fire apparatus endorsements, and Firefighter License to drive and operate fire apparatus.
