Job summary

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is recruiting for seasonal, temporary Fire Control Worker (Hand Crew) positions for the 2027 fire season. Work is on a 12‑hour shift cycle (12 hrs/day, 4 days one week, 3 days the next).

Two schedule options exist: Sun-Tue with every other Wed off, or Thu–Sat with every other Wed off (schedule TBD). Station at Byron, CA. Recruitment closes Nov 8, 2026; pack test late Nov; interviews in early December.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
• Valid California driver license required; out-of-state licenses accepted during application.
• Valid CPR certification required.
• Must be at least 18 years old at final filing date.
• Ability to meet health standards as required by County Medical Consultant.
