Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field or related technical field plus 1 year in chemistry lab, or 5 years in a lab setting.
• Proficiency with basic lab equipment and SOPs.
• Strong attention to detail and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strict adherence to laboratory safety rules and practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine laboratory procedures and prepare equipment and samples.
• Operate analytical instruments; calibrate and maintain equipment.
• Conduct experiments on wildland fire chemicals per specifications and STPs.
• Identify acceptable/unacceptable test outcomes.
• Use software for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Generate data sets for foam, gel, and retardant testing and QA reports.
• Perform safety checks and track hazardous waste per protocols.
• Maintain inventory and incoming samples log.
• Build combustion-retarding fuel beds and handle corrosion coupons.
