Job summary

CSS Inc. in Castle Rock, CO seeks a Chemist for our EPA mobile laboratory program within Emergency Response and Disaster Recovery. The role entails on-site and remote chemical analysis of air, soil, water and wipes for toxic substances, with background screening and U.S.

citizenship requirements. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing environmental samples using GC/MS, GC TOF or LC/MS/MS, data validation, and using MassHunter, TraceFinder, MassLynx and LIMS for data processing.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemistry or related physical science from an accredited institution.
• 5–10 years minimum in environmental laboratory operations with organic analyses.
• Experience with LC/MS/MS, GC/MS and/or GC TOF.
• Familiar with LIMS and instrument software.
• Knowledge of EPA SW-846 methods and QA programs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze environmental samples for organic analysis.
• Perform GC/MS, GC TOF or LC/MS/MS and data validation to maintain throughput.
• Use MassHunter, TraceFinder, MassLynx and LIMS for data processing.
• Log in samples into LIMS, prepare for analysis, and maintain notebooks.
• Maintain instruments and equipment; report data and results.
• Participate in setup, operation, and monitoring of procedures for novel samples.
• Travel with mobile labs for field work up to 2 weeks as needed.
