Job summary

RuralMetro Fire seeks a Wildland Fire Captain for its Insurance Division to oversee fire prevention, mitigation, pre-fire assessment and fire suppression support. The role reports to the Battalion Chief and may require deployment to fires across the western United States.

Expect 8-hour days with possible night, holiday and weekend shifts. The candidate must have a High School diploma or GED, CPR/AED, a valid driver's license, and pass a work capacity test.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Valid driver license with good driving record.
• Able to pass a work capacity test during onboarding.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operation and maintenance of a fire station, or other site, and the apparatus and personnel assigned.
• Conduct wildfire safety checks and pre-fire planning inspections.
• Develop, direct and participate in drills and training programs; provide information to the public and engage in public relations events.
• Act in the capacity of Battalion Chief as needed.
• Work shifts including nights, holidays and weekends; may be dispatched to fires in the western United States; typical hours are 8-hour days.
