Job summary

Rural/Metro Fire Idaho is seeking a Wildland Fire Captain – Insurance Division to oversee prevention, mitigation, pre-fire assessment and suppression. This role reports to the Capstone Insurance Division Chief and may assist the Battalion Chief as needed.Required: High School diploma or GED, CPR/AED, a valid driver's license, and ability to work all shifts, including nights and weekends.

Prior wildland firefighting experience and NWCG/FEMA certifications are required or preferred; Capstone PTB

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Current CPR/AED certification.
Valid driver license with clean driving record.
Ability to work any shift, including nights, weekends.
Ability to pass a work capacity test during onboarding.
Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related platforms.
Knowledge of wildland firefighting practices, especially in WUI.
Prior wildland firefighting experience (USFS/BLM/Cal Fire).
Advanced first aid and/or EMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversees daily operation and maintenance of fire station, equipment, and personnel.
Conducts wildfire safety checks and pre-fire planning inspections.
Develops and participates in drills and public safety training.
Provide information to the public and participate in public relations events.
May serve as Battalion Chief when needed.
Supervise safe operation of company vehicles and evaluate crew performance.
