Xcel Energy is offering a Wildfire Distribution Engineering Intern position focused on reducing wildfire risk and improving electric system reliability. You will work with engineers, analysts, and project managers across distribution protection, grid hardening, GIS, and system modeling.

The role provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges, with potential the internship may extend beyond the initial term based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program enrollment in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with technical data interpretation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support EPSS and wildfire mitigation program implementation.
• Assist in developing the Distribution System Digital Twin for analysis.
• Research new technologies and best practices to reduce wildfire risk.
• Participate in investigations of wildfire events and outages.
