Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a WCC Specialist to monitor wildfire activity across the XE service territory and to contextualize data for leadership briefings. This role interfaces with meteorology, PSPS, Investigations, and Public Safety teams to support 24/7 wildfire command center operations.

The position emphasizes building relationships, maintaining plans and SOPs, and delivering real-time wildfire information to DCC/ECC and other XE functions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in emergency or disaster management, fire science, homeland security or related field or equivalent education/experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work across organization boundaries and influence others.
• Knowledge of NIMS/ICS/EOC/IMT operations.
• Self-directed with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Ability to operate in high-stress environments and coordinate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain partnerships with emergency management and wildfire partners.
• Monitor wildfire information from multiple resources impacting XE.
• Visualize Wildfire Mitigation and Response program activities.
• Maintain and implement WCC plans, playbooks, SOPs, and supports emergency operations plans.
• Provide support for ICs during exercises and real-world incidents.
• Coordinate with internal teams to align emergency preparedness around WCC operations and PSPS events.
• Create incident action plans and situational awareness briefings and dashboards.
