Job summary

Paycom in Austin, TX is seeking a Wide Format Operator to support growing production. You will operate and maintain large-format printing, finishing, cutting, and fabrication equipment to meet quality standards.

The ideal candidate has experience in commercial print or production and can manage multiple jobs across equipment with attention to detail and a strong work ethic. This is a full-time, night shift position at our Austin facility.

Responsibilities

• Operate wide-format printing equipment from file prep to finished production.
• Set up, calibrate, monitor, and troubleshoot devices to ensure print quality.
• Load substrates including rigid and flexible materials.
• Operate roll-to-roll and flatbed systems.
• Perform routine maintenance and daily checks.
• Monitor inks, media, and consumables; communicate needs.
• Inspect output for color, registration, and finish requirements.
• Operate CNC cutting and finishing equipment per specs.
• Finish with trimming, laminating, grommets, sewing, welding, assembly.
• Interpret work orders and production specs accurately.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized production area.
• Support workflow as production priorities shift.
• Follow safety and quality procedures.

Position Summary

We are requesting the addition of a Wide Format Operator to support the continued growth and production demands of our Wide Format operation. This position will be responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of large-format digital printing, finishing, cutting, and fabrication equipment while ensuring jobs are produced accurately, efficiently, and to established quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a commercial print, sign, graphics, or production environment and be comfortable working across multiple pieces of equipment and processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, quality awareness, and the ability to manage multiple jobs within established production deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate wide-format digital printing equipment from file preparation through completed production.
• Set up, calibrate, monitor, and troubleshoot equipment to maintain consistent print quality.
• Load and handle a variety of substrates, including rigid and flexible materials.
• Operate both roll-to-roll and flatbed printing systems.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and daily operator checks.
• Monitor ink, media, and other consumables and communicate supply needs.
• Inspect printed output for color, registration, quality, finishing, and other production requirements.
• Operate CNC cutting and finishing equipment according to job specifications.
• Perform finishing processes including trimming, cutting, laminating, grommeting, sewing, welding, and assembly.
• Accurately interpret work orders, production specifications, proofs, and finishing instructions.
• Maintain accurate job identification and ensure materials remain properly associated with the correct job throughout production.
• Safely move, stage, and handle large-format materials and completed pieces.
• Identify production issues early and communicate them to Production Management or appropriate team members.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
• Assist with workflow across the Wide Format department as production priorities change.
• Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures.
• Other duties as assigned to support overall production needs.

Experience with all of the equipment listed above is not required. Candidates with strong wide-format production experience and the ability to learn new equipment and processes should be considered.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in wide-format digital printing, commercial printing, sign production, graphics production, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience operating large-format printers and/or finishing equipment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and production issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to read and follow job specifications and production instructions.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within a production team.
• Ability to prioritize work and meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working with both rigid and flexible substrates.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and handle large-format materials and finished products.
