Job summary

Florida Department of Health in Collier County is seeking an OPS Public Health Nutritionist to support the WIC program in Naples and Immokalee. This part-time role (28 hours/week) will assess nutrition status, provide education, and determine food packages for participants.

The incumbent will document care plans, perform nutrition counseling, and coordinate with immunization and local health services. Travel between Naples and Immokalee facilities is required, with a strong emphasis on client

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nutritional science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition.
• Current licensure as a Florida licensed Registered Dietitian.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
• Emergency duty may be required; in-office role in Naples/Immokalee.

Responsibilities

• Interview WIC clients to perform nutritional assessment screenings (high, risk, and low risk).
• Analyze medical, nutritional, and anthropometrical data to determine nutritional risk eligibility.
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to all client types.
• Document assessment, counseling provided, and client goals.
• Assign appropriate WIC food packages for client type.
• Prepare individualized nutrition care plans for high-risk clients.
• Promote breastfeeding and refer to Peer Counselors/CLC/IBCLC as needed per WIC policies.
• Provide and document referrals to immunization, medical, family planning, smoking cessation, and other programs.
• Record height, weight, and hemoglobin as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.
• Maintain compliance with state/federal policies for sensitive information.
