Job summary

Community Teamwork in Lowell, MA is seeking a WIC Program Assistant/Nutrition Assistant I to help families meet nutrition goals. Responsibilities include income assessment, eligibility, reception duties, data collection, and issuing benefits for WIC foods.

Training to CPA I status will be provided and considered within career development. The role requires strong customer service, data entry accuracy, ability to work at multiple sites, and occasional evening/weekend hours.

Qualifications

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • One-year general office experience with proficient computer skills.
  • One year health care experience such as counselor, educator, or related role preferred.
  • Interest in nutrition or health care.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail; confidential handling of information.
  • Ability to work at multiple WIC sites and some evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Answer direct phone calls and emails.
  • Provide referrals to health and social services.
  • Screen inquiries for eligibility.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and reminders.
  • Greet and triage participants.
  • Oversee waiting area flow.
  • Perform clerical duties.
  • Educate participants on rights, WIC foods, and using WIC card.
  • Refer to MassHealth, SNAP, and TAFDC.
  • Notify end of certification and reporting issues.
  • Collect anthropometric and hematological data.
  • Issue prescribed food benefits and re-issue benefits as needed.
  • Attend CPA1 training within 18 months and work toward CPAI status.
  • Provide nutrition care with assessments, diet planning, and counseling.
  • Document and refer to health and social services as needed.
  • Join trainings remotely or at Learning Center as required.
