The WIC Program Assistant/Nutrition Assistant will be part of a team that is focused on helping families to meet their nutrition goals. They will perform income assessment and eligibility determination, receptionist and clerical duties, obtain anthropometric and hematological data, tailor food prescriptions, and issue benefits for healthy foods and support family needs through referrals. The WIC Program Assistant/Nutrition Assistant will perform nutrition assessments, determine health and nutrition risk, and provide nutrition education and counseling once CPA status is achieved.
Perform reception duties such as:
Follow all protocols and/or regulations for processing applicants/participants for (re)certification including:
Oversee benefit issuance for prescribed food prescription including:
Enroll in CPA1 training within 18 months of hire and upon completion of Program Assistant training to obtain CPA I nutritionist assistant status. The Program Assistant/Nutrition Assistant will be required to attend trainings remotely and/or at the DPH-WIC Learning Center.
Completes and receives acceptable status on all components, activities and post-tests of CPAI training program to obtain CPAI status.
Provides nutrition care for low‑risk children at certification and follow‑up, including all aspects of:
